Faces From Our Town is a series of photographic portraits produced by Paul County in collaboration with students from Lutruwita/Tasmania, during portraiture workshops.
This exhibition explores the power of the portrait medium. It can communicate feelings, perspectives and lived experiences – demonstrating a camera is not just a mirror with a memory, but a powerful creative tool.
This collection of portraits are accompanied by stories from the subjects, reflecting the individual’s fears, hopes and resilience, as well as highlighting the work each is doing for their community.
Paul is a teacher, historian and photographer, focused on community-driven work. Faces From Our Town is an ongoing project, creating an educational resource that promotes acceptance, inclusion and empathy across the diverse communities within Lutruwita/Tasmania.
