Beyond our hireable Performance Studio and Makers Workshop, Moonah Arts Centre is home to a number of spaces that form the heart of our exhibition and visitor experience.
These areas aren’t available for private hire, but they’re worth knowing about — particularly if you’re planning to exhibit with us, or just want a feel for the Centre before you visit.
To get an idea of the kinds of exhibitions our space can take on, check out our exhibitions archive.
Main Gallery

Our light-filled Main Gallery is the primary exhibition space at Moonah Arts Centre, hosting a changing program of exhibitions from local, national, and touring artists across the year.
- Dimensions: 12m x 8m (96m²)
- Wall height: 3.2m, with a professional hanging system throughout
- Lighting: Adjustable track lighting, with the ability to achieve full blackout for video or projection-based work
- Flooring: Polished concrete, suitable for freestanding sculptural and installation work
The gallery is designed to be flexible, with moveable partition walls allowing the space to be reconfigured for solo exhibitions, group shows, or works requiring specific spatial arrangements. Exhibiting artists and curators are welcome to discuss layout options with our Programs team as part of the exhibition planning process.
Foyer

The Foyer is the first space visitors encounter on arrival, and doubles as an informal exhibition and gathering area. With natural light and a steady flow of foot traffic throughout the day, it’s a popular spot for small-scale or pop-up displays, opening night functions, and pre-show gatherings ahead of events in the Performance Studio.
- Features: Reception desk, seating area, and direct sightlines into the Main Gallery
- Common uses: Opening night functions, small object-based displays, welcome and orientation for visiting groups
Internal Courtyard

A landscaped outdoor courtyard sits at the centre of the building, accessible from both the Makers Workshop and Performance Studio via glass doors. It provides a natural extension of indoor spaces for events, breaks, and informal gathering, and is a popular spot for exhibition openings that spill outdoors.
- Features: Undercover seating area, planting beds, natural light
- Common uses: Opening night functions, workshop breaks, informal outdoor components of larger events
